Artist and botanical illustrator Alana Lea has collaborated with Susan on the newest poem-prints as well as the cover of Susan's latest book of poems, Between the Doors.

"Through its programs, the Arts & Spirituality Center builds bridges and deepens relationships across cultural and racial divides. The work enables individuals and communities to draw on their intrinsic strengths to overcome alienation, to impact the revitalization of neighborhoods, and to heal the wounds of injustice." Susan is a teacher in the Interfaith Poetry Project (see link below), a program of this vibrant, West Philadelphia organization.

Through this project, Susan teaches poetry to children at the Quba Institute for Arabic and Islamic Studies and other Philadelphia schools.

Susan's explorations with visual artists began with renowned watercolorist and Philadelphia neighbor Sara Steele.

This is the little church that drives me crazy with love and work. It's a laboratory for learning how to love across differences. The Writing Circles happen here, feeding both the church and the surrounding communities.

Susan's poetry is included in this 2006 desk calendar, along with many fabulous poems and images of contemporary artist.

The PATH Coalition is a unified group of community based and statewide advocacy groups come together to work for change in PA gun trafficking laws. Specifically, the network advocates the One Handgun Per Month Law, legislation which would prohibit the sale of handguns to one purchase per month. (Currently anyone in the state without a criminal record is permitted to buy as many guns as he or she chooses at any given time.) Voices of a Different Dream, a member of the Coalition, works through their Stoppin, Traffic! concerts, to raise awareness and organize action about this issue.
