Poem Prints
Fruits of Susan's evolving collaborations with visual artists, the poem-prints are fine art reproductions in which image and word support and converse with each other. They are eye-catching, thought provoking meditations for the walls of office or home. The printing process is giclée, a method that involves spraying microscopic dots of ink onto fine quality paper. The inks are absorbed slightly on the paper, blending to create the highest quality reproductions.

Size: 7 x 10 Retail Price: $175.00 Sunflowers I have seen the shape of my soul. The stem I struggle to keep straight is a fluid thing: the head I would hold up has no trouble bowing down. And what I would keep new and moist shrivels with such ease, as if my soul enjoys every second of its changing form, and hidden in each anxious fear is a long mellifluous laugh - I have met the shape of my soul. What cannot be seen is perfectly clear. © 2002 by Susan Windle These archival Iris giclée prints were done on Hahnemuhle acid-free 100% cotton rag watercolor paper with Equipoise fine art inks. These are open edition prints, signed by artist and poet. Dimensions refer to image size, including text, and are rounded to the nearest 1/2 inch; there is a minimum 1/2 inch white border on all four sides. |

Elegy for Hana Khadafy by Susan Windle, Peach Screen by Sara Steele, ©2002 by Sara Steele and Susan Windle, All Rights Reserved.
Size: 8 1/2 x 11 Retail Price: $175.00 Elegy for Hana Khadafy The white petals that have fallen from the cherry tree to cover our Philadelphia lawn lighten my feet as I step—O blossoms! This week a baby was killed in Libya by the arms of the state in which our house dwells. And still you grace this yard? None of the cherry trees in all of April, not even the ones in D.C. have shut down. They knew it all before it happened: that we were gunning for her father that we didn't care who else or how many. They heard us say, "We never meant to kill anybody," then watched us believing the words. They saw that none of the deaths not even the baby's was mourned. They were not aghast. They flowered. The flowers fell — softening the Capitol pavements with small pink hands. Size: 16 1/2 x 12 Retail Price: $275.00 Orchid Tells All However forwardly I face you however unabashed I am— these blazing hips, this open-chested stance— it's only half the truth. Look behind me: see how loosely, how thinly tethered to the green I am— continually stepping off my stem into the cobalt air where the magenta I meet mingles with my belly's yellow fire and I am charged with the task of calling you here. Color, shape, smell— every wave of me works to draw you. Everything you do in me will flourish. ©2002 by Susan Windle These archival Iris giclée prints were done on Hahnemuhle acid-free 100% cotton rag watercolor paper with Equipoise fine art inks. Consider the Grass
Consider the Grass by Susan Windle, Youngs' Irises by Sara Steele, ©2001 by Susan Windle and Sara Steele, All Rights Reserved.
Size: 21 x 10 1/2 Retail Price: $275.00 Consider the Grass She doesn't worry what she produces, how narrow her life, what she has to show for it. She has been growing tall in the same nook of the river for years, suffering all who come here in their small boats yearning to be green and supple like her. She is married to the sun, the river bottom, and the delicious wind. Even on the stillest of days she doesn't worry whether the breeze will breathe on her again — has the river stopped? will the thousand faces of her self fall - never to rise again never to feel the brush of wings or watch an iris bloom? She doesn't worry — she lives on light. That's why she stands here generous and strong. ©2001 Susan Windle These archival Iris giclée prints were done on Hahnemuhle acid-free 100% cotton rag watercolor paper with Equipoise fine art inks. Size: 18 x 12 Retail Price: $275.00 From the St. Lawrence River For Meg I wanted to bring you something from this island: a rock to stand on, some rare and ancient fern. A river of sunlight, basket of birch bark, white pines rising from pink granite: the shape of the wind. I wanted to bring you something you can count on: a thousand useless islands, broken and worn, stitched, like shards of jade into the dazzling, blue robe of the river. ©2002 by Susan Windle These archival Iris giclée prints were done on Hahnemuhle acid-free 100% cotton rag watercolor paper with Equipoise fine art inks. She gave a banquet in your honor. You tried to say, It was just, just that— but she wouldn't let you explain Your face! Your face! she said and treated you as if you were holy. Which is how you have felt about her. Nothing in your life is what you expect. You scoured the world for praise and find yourself celebrated here for nothing at all but your face. © 1989 by Susan Windle These archival Iris giclée prints were done on Hahnemuhle acid-free 100% cotton rag watercolor paper with Equipoise fine art inks.
