Since 1994 Susan Windle has led Writing Circles in her Northwest Philadelphia neighborhood. These are groups of four to twelve people who gather to support one another by writing and listening. Participants sometimes draw or play with color as an alternative or addition to their writing. With poetry from many sources to inspire and delight, Susan leads a carefully structured and richly textured experience, surprising every time, and yet perfectly predictable in its form.
The Circles are for anyone needing slowed down time and communal support for whatever challenges we might be facing. The only requirement is a willingness to pick up pen and/or drawing implements and let them move over the paper in the company of others who are doing the same. Sharing is encouraged but always optional.
Currently Susan leads an on-going circle on Thursday mornings at the Unitarian Universalist Church of the Restoration in Mt. Airy, Philadelphia. Other groups happen at other times in other places.
